Everyone can remember that feeling of first riding a bike. Throwing your leg over the seat and speeding off. This was our first real taste of independence and freedom as a kid. Although we do not identify right away with this feeling, eventually later on in life we remember it. We hear the term, “It’s just like riding a bike” because it is something we never forget.
Unfortunately, not everyone has this experience early in life. Today we are helping to change that. Krank Cycles has been helping the youth & church community on Molokai, Maui, and Lanai since 2013. We remembered that Jim Falks does a bike giveaway every year. We decided to approach them this year and figure out a way to get these kids on some better quality bikes.
Jim Falk generously donated these 500 bikes that will go to kids who not only want bikes, but cannot afford them. It’s not about getting kids on bikes, it’s about getting bikes to kids that don’t have the means to make that possible this holiday season. Gifting these bikes will help teach the responsibility of owning a piece of gear, allow fun to be had with friends, and keep away from trouble!
Each one of these boxes contains a bike that needs to be assembled. We need your help assembling the bikes to surprise these kids! It will be our job to make sure these kids get on bikes that are safe so they can have some fun during the holidays. Each bike will also come with a free helmet!
We will be meeting every Saturday @ 270 Dairy Rd, Kahului, HI 96732 the old Lowe’s building from 9am – 2pm until we are done assembling all the bikes. 11/17, 11/24, 12/1, 12/8, 12/15.
No mechanical ability needed, if you have tools please bring metric socket set, 10,13,15, 17, 19mm wrenches and sockets along with metric allen keys.
